The reference I found really useful was the Sun publication "Networking on the Sun Workstation," published and probably available from them. Unless I'm wrong, they give you that manual if you buy a couple of workstations from them. The book (it's thick enough) gives a lot of technical details of NFS, and the attendant mount protocol also.
