Was last week a wow!  Took an excursion behind  UP  8444  (Columbia  Gorge,
Deschuttes  River,  10 mph curves and 60-70 on the flats) , and then chased
it as it started back to Omaha.  I'm still coming down!

I'll be happy to give more information once I'm coherent.  I understand  UP
has two specials heading north from Omaha on June 6:  an Energy Special and
a Director's Special.  I don't know which gets what power, though.

Meanwhile, I'm still untangling pocket recorders, primary and  backup  cam-
eras,  and  the  camcorder I used on the chase (with occasional success  --
you can tell just about everytime I tried to use  the  35mm  in  the  other
hand).  Gollee gee, Uncle Gadget!
