It seems to me that postings to any and all 'alt' groups should be reserved for things that for some reason just aren't appropriate anywhere else (e.g. alt.sex). Actively encouraging people to post to an alt group rather than an appropriate mainstream group (alt.sources.amiga VS. comp.lang.rexx/comp.sources.amiga/comp.sys.amiga) is pointless, since all it does is drastically decrease the audience.
