FYI uw requires functionality along the lines of psuedo-ttys, so you'll find that a port of uw is impossible to any version of System V older than System V.4 (which incorporates the full tty-extension of streams). And people wonder how anyone could possibly regard BSD Unix as superior to AT&T Unix. System III/V: Blech. Almost as bad as Xenix. (Xenix being a variant on System III/V with features lobotomized and many bugs added.)
