While Videoscape may be a good animation and rendering package, I find it's interface difficult to use. Sculpt-Animate 3D (&4D) have great user interfaces, but are also slow and not completely bug-free. I prefer using Turbo Silver V3.0SV. The editor is in HIRES with user definable colors (to reduce amount of flicker), relativly bug free, renders full ray-traced images in an average of about 1 hour (for relatively complex scenes. Add another half hour for full anti-aliased & glass/mirror images. [on a stock A500 w/ 1 meg of RAM]), and has the ability to produce scenes using a different rendering process other than ray-tracing to cut down rendering times by aproximately 50%. (This mode does not allow reflective surfaces though). I would say Turbo Silver is another good alternative for doing animations of any length. (Long the animation more memory and storage you'll need no matter what software package you use). There are other viable packages for animation out there, such as Moviesetter, Fantavision, Deluxe Paint III, and Photon Paint II, and not to forget Photon Cell Animator. I think the market is full, but could use improvements in the animation field.. Joe Kuzma (joe@bryans.scc.com)
