As a team leader on System Software 5.0, I have several strong opinions on things that have been said and myths which are being propagated in this news group. As a former technical lead on System Software 4.0, there are still a few GS/OS misunderstandings that need to be cleared up. And as the Apple II File Type Hero (Rilla suggested I put this on my business cards), I have *very* strong opinions on the file identification discussion, specifically Binary II and NuFX files and how they should be identified, transmitted and received. Unfortunately, the team leader on 5.0 part means that I'm really, really busy these days. I went without sleep for about two days last week trying to get 5.0 work done. This doesn't leave me with the time I need to properly write these issues and concerns up and deal with them completely and fairly, although I will try to do so in the next week or two. (You folks *do* want 5.0 as soon as possible, otherwise I'd have plenty of time! :-) ) I hope to be able to post these opinions pretty soon; I just wanted to make a note that I do feel strongly about them and will do my best to correc mistakes I've seen as soon as I have a chance. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matt Deatherage, Apple Computer, Inc. | "The opinions expressed in this tome Send PERSONAL mail ONLY (please) to: | should not be construed to imply that AppleLink PE: Matt DTS GEnie: AIIDTS | Apple Computer, Inc., or any of its CompuServe: 76703,3030 | subsidiaries, in whole or in part, Usenet: mattd@apple.com | have any opinion on any subject."
