Older ST's have really low-quality sockets, and even some newer ST's have awful Video & Dma chip- sockets. (There are a LOT of 520`s out there that give up when you connect a hard-disk.) Before I changed sockets I had all sorts of problems with extra luminance in column 0, and often other weird effects.
