Very strange. I'm almost glad that others are having the same problem. Makes me feel it's not something dumb I have done to the Mac. The only answer I know is full backup, initialization, and restore. I've avoded doing that out of laziness and frustration. ("D**n it, I _SHOULD_ be able to erase those folders!")
