Lines: 28 Yes, Tandy has a discount program for colleges/universities, and it surprises me that more institutions don't take advantage of it, since in my mind it's so much better than the quantity-based programs that IBM and Apple have. Essentially, the school signs a contract with Tandy that sets forth the procedures and attests to the fact that the school really is indeed a school. (WOW.) Then, when someone wants to buy a computer, they get a special form from the school, and walk into the Tandy Computer Center administering the contract. They turn in the form, show their student ID, and VOILA! 20% off any purchase including a CPU unit. (Disclaimer: this was accurate as to my last encounter with the system. It may have changed by now.) The nice thing about this is that small schools can get computers at a discount for their students. My college was passed over by IBM and Apple because we were "too small to make enough sales" for them to bother with us. Tandy's system is a lot less hassle for everyone, and you can walk out of the store with your machine -- you don't have to place an order and wait weeks on end for delivery. |George Madison, a/k/a George The Bear Cub, a/k/a Furr ** BEAR POWER **| |INET: gmadison@pnet02.cts.com 8-{)> ames!elroy!pnet02.cts.com!gmadison| |GEnie: GEORGE.M Arctophiles & Barbophiles Unite!
