My problem is that this conversion is to 8 spaces per tab and I would like 4 spaces per tab. Alternatively, I COULD use 'stty tabs' so that tabs are not converted to spaces and 'tabs -4' to set the tabstops on the tty, but this is hardware dependent -- the tty (terminal or printer) must have remotely-settable hardware tabs. Is there some way to cause expansion of tabs to 4 spaces instead of 8? Seems that there should be a way to tell the tty driver to do this but I can't figure out how. ========================================================================= Greg Klein | Microcomputer Electronics Corp. voice: (206)821-2800 x702 | 12421 Willows Rd, NE uucp: ...!hplabs!hpubvwa!mechp!klein | Kirkland WA, USA 98034 =========================================================================
