I'm far from being an expert in Emacs and I need to help someone with a "problem." This guy wants to have emacs be his default editor (from Notes specifically, but I'm also having trouble with it as general Unix default too). From the documentation, I simply set the environment variable NFED (EDITOR, too) to the path for emacs. Here's what strange (too me at least). On one machine, we're running ver 18.51 and things work just fine. But on this guys machines we're running 18.53.1. When the utility tries to start up Emacs, it stops. I mean that the process gets stopped. I can look at the ps list and see that both notes and emacs are there. (or both mail and emacs, if I'm trying to the general Unix default) Or, the other specs: 18.51 is running on a Convex 18.53.1 is running on a Pyramid (Would this problem be solved with just getting version 18.54???) Any help would be *most* appreciated.
