Don't delay the bug report for more than a day with the idea of fixing it yourself. I appreciate receiving fixes, but I don't appreciate being kept in the dark about bugs and being unable to fix them. It may easily happen, if you delay, that a release will go out in the meanwhile. In that case, the new release may still have the bug, because you didn't report it in time.
