The application: we need to put some FDDI/Ethernet bridges 5 km apart. We have an FDDI ring installed where the distance between stations is more than 10 Km. In order to achieve the distance, a Finnish company called SLO-Kaapeli Inc. has made us multimode/single mode converters. The converter is now a commercial product. I don't know the price nor remember the address of the company.
