Then I discovered the unit had a hardware fault, sent it back, and now have a replacement. I've finally gotten around to playing with it again, and could use some help. A couple of things are going on. First, it's only for a dialin line. Second, the previous sys-admin seems to have retained some 4.2 uucp features to make the system work. Third, I do have fax of the Telebit installation notes for uucp/g networks, so I have something to work with. Unfortunately, with the weirdness my predecessor left, /etc/gettytab uses a format similar to /etc/termcap instead of the format Telebit describes for it, with two-letter flags like "2|std.9600|9600 baud|sp#9600:" instead of the "19200m #B19200 CS* ECHO EXON ....." style. So, should I worry about the uucp Entries at all if I'm only using it as a dialin? Should I lock the speeds, since it's for my boss to use with an identical unit? What register settings do people with similar systems and setups use? -- Nico Garcia Engineer, CIRL Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary eplunix!cirl!raoul@eddie.mit.edu
