while on the subject of additions to emacs dired mode; 
I've made a few additional enhancements to do such things
as queue the indicated file to the printer a couple different ways;
run diff on the two files you've indicated in the list 
(point and mark - left and middle clicks from emacs tool)
and a few other goodies if anyone is interested...
