many thanks for the info on ZOO

there are two ways of going about getting a zoo:  (other than
collecting a large number of beasts... etc.)

the easier (for me) was to send a request to the csnet server for the
program.  it is something like this 

        To: info-server@sh.cs.net
        
        request: mod.source
        topic: zoo2
        topic: index
        request: end

the zoo2 will get you a ten-part file.  the index is a list of
everything available from there.

the other way shown to me was to ftp from xanth.cs.odu.edu 

the xanth stuff is in /amiga/zoo; get the zoo.tar-Z (or something like
that).  it has makefiles for sysV, bsd, etc.  it works pretty nicely.
