This is my third request for help without even a "sorry, guy" e-mail. I have a Shugart Associates SA-1004 disk drive and its SA1400 controller. I talked to someone in California today who told me it was an ESDI (?!) interface, which I have a hard time believing. The SA1400 glossy brochure says it will control up to four SA devices from a floppy controller, but of course doesn't say how. What I am asking for is: (1) pinouts for either or both of the SA1004 and/or SA1400 (2) Some address where I can send a check for less than what I paid for the drive to get the information. (3) programming data on the SA1400 controller or an address as above. I want to either use an ST506 controller with modified cabling on the hard drive itself or a Z-217 FDC on the SA-1400 controller. Either would be satisfactory, but I NEED TO FORMAT THE DRIVE! Please! Some one out there has a book, an address, or just some sympathy.
