The name server is supposed to be a machine running the so-called "Domain Name Server" protocols. If your Sun doesn't support this (and nothing else in your network does), you probably need to fall back to a static list of hosts in your Macintosh. I don't know what Telnet/FTP package you are using. NCSA Telnet has a method of listing the names of hosts (along with their IP addresses) in the custom file. HostAccess/TCPort uses a file (with the same format as /etc/hosts on your sun) in the system folder (called "TCPort hosts"). Hope this helps. Greg Minshall
