I am interested in getting information on tools available that will analyze
traffic on an Ethernet LAN.  It would be nice if these were not protocol
specific.  I would also like some opinions on what to look for in a good
network/protocol analyzer.

In general I would like to get a good feel for what is available in the area
of tools for ethernet network analysis, both in terms of actual packages and
features that make up a good analyzer.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please reply by email only, no need to bother the whole world with such
a trivial matter.  If I get a good response I will post a summary.
