I can recommend George Woodside's PD backup utility, called "TURTLE". Despite
it's name, I think it's awfully darn quick, some fairly sophisticated
techniques have been used to make it so. And, it's quite easy to set up and
use. It's one of the most polished, bug-free PD programs I've seen.  Available 
from the ssyx server!
