I can relate to your frustration. I think it is stupid that printers are sold without printer cables, as well. (Like you're going to use the thing as a stand-alone unit!:-)) However, I think the rationale behind what Xerox has done is that if a customer wants to buy three scanners and does not need three copies of the docs, then they can give a price break on the units sold without docs.
