Message-ID: <108@qt.cs.utexas.edu> Date: 12 Jun 89 22:12:38 GMT Organization: U. Texas CS Dept., Austin, Texas Lines: 21 I just got an RT Ethernet Adapter, and I believe I've got all the software configured properly (including etc/hosts, etc/net (AIX 2.2.1) entries, including 1500 length packets). Since the UB card has only the thick-type connection, I tried connecting it with an HP ThinMAU, but neither the net nor the RT seem happy with this arrangement - the TCPIP startup gives me "009-005 Physical link control experienced an unusual network condition", and meanwhile, the network is going crazy with "ie0: packet received with XXX bit cleared" appearing on Suns. This occurs even with the RT powered down (but all cabling connected). Question: Should this work? Should I suspect a bad part (the thinMAU?) or is this hopeless, and I should go dig up an IBM (logo) adapter box? Thanks--- John -- ................................................
