Well Bill, would you like to volunteer to go through the megabyte fortran soucre code that I have and analyze it for timing and then put calls to WaitNexEvent in just the right places? It kinda needs to run in the backgound since it takes hours to days to complete its task on a VAX -- presumably the same on my SE/30 but I haven't tried it yet since there is no preemtive multitasking on the Mac. I sure as Hell don't want to do the munging myself since (1) I didn't write the program, (2) I don't understand the program and (3) I hate fortran. But you get the Idea. It is an incredible pain in the ass to take 'dusty decks' and put WaitNextEvents in just the right places (and without slowing the program down). I *need* preemptive multitasking.
