I'm relatively new to the Mac scene, and I'd like your input on how to set up a starter system. I'm a student, with meagre funds, and don't want to be paying big bucks for equipment, if possible. I'm planning on buying a Mac Plus or SE, 1M, 1 3.5" floppy, a 20-30M HD, and a decent printer (speed isn't as important as price and print quality -- I'm looking at an Imagewriter II or an HP Deskjet). Questions: 1) What's the difference, from a user's perspective, between the Mac Plus and the SE? Is the extra expense really worth the upgrade? 2) Can you point me to a cheap, reliable HD? Printer? (at least NLQ) 3) Should I 'hang the expense' and buy all this 'off the shelf,' or can I get by with secondhand equipment? How much should I expect to pay for all this? I'd really appreciate any help you can give me with this! :-) Please EMAIL responses to: tbarnes@cosmos.acs.calpoly.edu.UUCP -or- tbarnes@polyslo.CalPoly.EDU Tom Barnes
