I am using a Sun 3/260 running SunOS 4.01. I want to know something about the dump command. If I were to copy the dump file off of a tape (with dd for instance), could I then restore from that file using restore? Is there any problem with transferring that file to a foreign system for long term storage on incompatible tapes? Is there any special trick to restoring multiple tape dumps, e.g. is 'cat' good enough to recombine them into a restoreable file? Thank you for your interest, and please reply directly to me. -David- -- Bitnet: david@wubios.wustl ^ Mr. David J.
