I had the same problem with 2.10 which turned out to be incompatible versions of "compress". I switched both ends to compress 4.0 and had no more problems. If this is the problem switching your feed to uncompressed format should solve the problem, or you could copy one of the batched files out of /usr/spool/uucp and try to uncompress it and then edit it.
