Another (more purist) approach is to use the ISO Remote Operations Service (ROS), which provides a transaction (RPC) style service, but with message streaming if required (and integrates well with alternative (more portable) presentation). Has there been any discussion of alternative carriers for the X protocol (I know about DECNET)? jon
