Not only does it work quite well, but it allows us to pick not only the appropriate application, but the appropriate cpu to run things from. (Ever see a pop-up menu from uwm on a Mips box compared to a little VAX? Maahvelous! -:) There are some minor nits, (dxcardfiler won't run under uwm, framemaker won't run under dxwm), but with a small amount of flexibility the mixed environment is *very* workable, and truly proves both the power and functionality of X specifically and "networked computing" in general.
