	I wonder if anybody has any information about a Japanese version
	of Emacs. Such a version may run under X windows and kterm.

There is such a version.  I have exchanged mail with one of the people
coordinating a collection of Japanese software, and have suggested that
they contact the Free Software Foundation to contribute the emacs portion.
It may take a few months for all of this to happen.
