Post-Doctoral Research Fellow

The Mycobacteria Group in the Department of Clinical Sciences has 14 members
working on the molecular biology and immunology of mycobacteria, with
interests including the development of a rational vaccine against leprosy.

This post will involve working on T cell recognition of the 18kDa antigen
of Mycobacterium leprae and its role in protective immunity to leprosy,
with Hazel Dockrell and Neil Stoker.

The post is funded by a three year Project grant from the MRC, and will be
available from January 1990.  The successful candidate should have experience
in cellular immunology, protein chemistry, and/or molecular biology.  The
group has strong overseas links with the Aga Khan University and Marie
Adelaide Leprosy Centre in Pakistan.  Initial salary up to 12,381 (pounds
sterling) per annum plus 1,650 London Weighting, depending on age and
experience.
