I have always wondered how the people associated with that group with unregistered mail addresses ever manage to receive anything but local mail at all. I noticed, however, that the really infamous one, *.adhocnet.ca, is still alive and well and living in the NetNorth routing data. The fact that this keeps the mail (from mailing lists, at least) moving from some subset of the world at large may give those sites a false sense that all is well. Things might work better, on balance, if *.adhocnet.ca disappeared from the face of the earth, since this might prompt those who haven't yet figured out what is required to get mail delivered reliably to do so.
