Help,

	I've built gnu 18.55 on my Apollo DN3550 with X11 support.
	I've also built Epoch (based on 18.52) for the same config.

	Everything works OK except mode line. I get Emacs: buffer
	but no (major minor) indication. The modes are working, I can
	see them in a buffer list. Same problem exists even if I don't
	load my .emacs, so that's not it. Here's what my mode line looks
	like:

	-----Emacs: blah             --------------------

	Note that there is space for the (magor minor) stuff.
