I tried mail, but it bounced... In article <293@ai-vie.UUCP>, you write... >Our project's goal is to build a hypertext course on pathology for a >hardware platform consisting of a (single-screen) personal computer >system equipped with a videodisc player. > I was wondering why you didn't mention the Amiga computer in your search for a hypermedia machine. The Amiga is capable of quite a bit right out of the box. With the addition of a couple meg of memory (a limit of 9MB) and a genlock you can do a lot without a large outlay of money. A colleague currently has a software product called VIVA which allows control of a videodisk through the serial port (no extra hardware required). There is a good hypermedia demo on the disks. The product is fairly new and has a few bugs, but they seem to be addressing them. It is from: Michtron, Inc. 576 South Telegraph, Pontiac, Michigan 48053 (313)334-5700 BBS (313)332-5452 Don't shrug the Amiga off as a game machine, it's video capabilities are quite something. It uses a 68000 (similar to the MAC), but has some custom chips to handle the video display and 4 channel stereo sound and it multitasks too. I have no affilation with Michtron...
