Specifically, I am trying to schedule radio telescopes to observe quasars. Given a state, i.e. an arrangement of telescopes observing some sources, I need to figure out the next arrangement of the scopes. I already have an interactive program which allows a user to schedule observations manually but due to the time this takes, automatically generated schedules would potentially be of great value. If anyone has any references which discuss scheduling algorithms in general or algorithms to handle situations similiar to mine, I would be most appreciative. Please email to me and I'll post a summary. Thanks, -- pat ryan ryan%sjuphil.sju.edu@bpa.bell-atl.com {princeton|rutgers|liberty|bpa}!sjuphil!ryan pmr@bootes.gsfc.nasa.gov
