Has anyone tried the Shiva EtherGate as a gateway to a UNIX file server?

What is available in the way of public domain sever code for a UNIX box
attached to an appletalk network?

I seem to remember some references to server code being in the public
domain...

I would be interested in any suggestions on building an inexpensive Mac <=>
UNIX System V network.
