It seems to work just fine in most repects, but I cannot get any icons to show up in the "Network:" "disk" on the Workbench. A directory listing from the CLI shows: 2.Network:> date Sunday 17-Dec-89 22:47:56 2.Network:> ls -l -----rwed 86-03-20 00:00:00 0 Dir DH0 -----rwed 86-03-20 00:00:00 0 Dir DH1 -----rwed 86-03-20 00:00:00 0 Dir DH2 -----rwed 86-03-20 00:00:00 0 Dir Foo -----rwed 86-03-20 00:00:00 2 974 DH0.info -----rwed 86-03-20 00:00:00 2 974 DH1.info -----rwed 86-03-20 00:00:00 2 974 DH2.info -----rwed 86-03-20 00:00:00 2 974 Foo.info Dirs:4 Files:4 Blocks:8 Bytes:3896 2.Network: I can access NET:DH0, NET:DH1 & NET:DH2 just fine from the CLI, but when I type LoadWB, and open the "Network" disk icon, I've got an empty window. Oh, NET:Foo works fine too, and is the same thing as NET:DH0. One odd thing: DHn.info do not seem to exist. If I try to copy them to another directory, I get "Can't open DH0.info". What is the Foo directory anyway, and who created it? Do those .info files really exist? Are the 1986 file dates normal? I believe that I have everything setup correctly because the network does work. The only thing mentioned in the docs about the Workbench is that "node.info" must exist in ROOT:, and it does. Here is a list of the files I've got, is there a newer version of the network? Now a couple of general questions: How far has anyone pushed the ParNet? I've got 25 feet of cable between the A2000 and the A500, and everything seems to be ok. Can I get away with 50-60 feet to the A1000 in the other room? Are there any plans for multiple machine support? I need to feed both the A500 and the A1000 from my A2000's hard drive. I think that's it for questions, now for a big THANKS to the creators of this great network. An afternoon with the soldering iron and messing with the setup sure beats several hundred bucks for another hard drive! -- Blaine Gardner @ Evans & Sutherland 580 Arapeen Drive, SLC, Utah 84108 Here: utah-cs!esunix!blgardne {ucbvax, allegra, decvax}!decwrl!esunix!blgardne There: uunet!iconsys!caeco!i-core!worsel!blaine (My Amiga running uucp) OPUS LIVES!!!
