Shells under P16 or GS/OS frequently use the 16-bit text toolkit which is
really pretty slow compared to using your own custom drivers which externally
loaded EXE files might have difficulty using (since the EXE progs depend on
the shell for the screen driver.).

The custom screen drivers I've written for TIC Pro are incredibly fast...
faster than 8-bit Appleworks for example.
