Then when receiving a uuencoded file from UFgate, simply UUdecode it and send it into FidoNet. You are limited to using text based programs that support a VT100 terminal but that is quite a few programs. CDOS XM on an AT will handle 3 or up to 6 users depending on the version. Thats 1 on the main console and the rest via serial ports. CDOS supports several third - party cards that expand the number of serial ports. CDOS 386 can handle 6 - 10 users with 4 windows on the main console. I now have a 386 machine at work but have not come up with a copy CDOS 386 yet to try. The documentation is the same for both the 286 and the 386 version so I could probably answer any questions you may have. The current versions of CDOS are fully MS-DOS 3.3 compatible and will also execute CP/M86 programs at the same time so it is very useful. I have also run SCO Xenix on a 286 machine but not with multiple users but I am not using it now so cannot tell you much about the current versions. At the time I was using it you could have separate MSDOS and Xenix partitions on your machine but it was necessary to use FDISK to set the auto-boot partition to switch.
