Lines: 13 I'm trying to install an external 5.25" drive on a 55SX. All hardware is IBM; the PS/2 is running Windows. CONFIG.SYS accesses the file $FDD5.SYS (says it's running version 1.0), but then gives the error message, "Device driver was not installed". Best clue is that the Reference Diskette does not allow me to describe B: as an external drive. When I try to, I get error 162 on the next boot. Running Automatic Configuration returns B: to Not Installed. Yet the Installation Diskette did tell the Reference Diskette that Slot 1 contains the adaptor for the external drive. Has anyone successfully performed this installation? Rumor has it that the 55SX uses a different adaptor than the other PS/2's. Please reply by e-mail.
