One thing about Windows, or PM, or even X is that there's a command line interface sitting down there somewhere underneath everything (at least conceptually). There isn't on a Mac. When you're using menus & windows, you *are* talking to the OS. The reason command-line evironments like MPW are add-ons is that they are sitting on top of the GUI, not the other way around.
