I need to automate the process of generating a sub total in a list of sorted
items in an Excel 2.2 document.  I assume one would use macro(s), but what 
would the general approach be?  The number of items within a subgroup may 
vary from application to application so the routine should be robust to habdle
the different situations.

I don't need the exact syntax, but an general wording of the steps involved is 
sufficient.
