Seems to me that the free distribution of "technological advancement" is a reasonably praiseworthy goal :-) ! At any rate, there is precedent for this sort of thing: TSR Hobbies, the makers of the "Dungeons and Dragons" fantasy role-playing game systems, once tried to sue some other game design company over using "TSR's material," such as the fantastic creatures, etc. J. R. R. Tolkien promptly filed suit against TSR, charging that they had appropriated concepts such as the "hobbit" without permission. TSR dropped the charges, whereupon Tolkien did as well.
