(Richard Rosenthal) Distribution: usa Organization: USAETL, Fort Belvoir, Virginia Lines: 36 Microsoft Word 4.0 drops "temp" files all over the place including folders where a document is opened or saved. Using MultiFinder I run Word open/edit/save some files from the hard disk. No problem. I decide to edit a file on a floppy. I open or create a new file and then save it to the floppy. Then I close the file. At this point I have no windows open under Word. I switch to the Finder leaving Word active. I drag the floppy to the trash but it sometimes leaves behind a shadow icon. Word sometimes leaves an open "temp" file on the floppy. The only way to get rid of temp file is to quit completely out of Word not just close the document associated with the "temp" file. Hey Microsoft, this is poor. When I close a document on a floppy I expect all activity on that disk to have been completed so that I can safely and permanently eject the disk. P.S. Sometimes "temp" files are in folders on the hard disk that I would like to put in the trash. Guess what happens! /s/ Richard Rosenthal richr@ai.etl.army.mil -- Richard Rosenthal Internet: richr@ai.etl.army.mil Engineer Topographic Labs UUCP: ...!ames!ai.etl.army.mil!richr Alexandria, VA 22060-5546 Phone: +1 202 355 3653
