Message-ID: <1222@mit-amt.MEDIA.MIT.EDU> Date: 16 Dec 89 18:03:16 GMT Reply-To: mjkobb@media-lab.media.mit.edu (Michael J Kobb) Organization: MIT Media Lab, Cambridge MA Lines: 27 Greetings, Well, just when you think you know what you're going to buy, somebody pulls the rug out... I was going to order the RasterOps ColorBoard 264, and then I got email suggesting that I check out the new Colorcard/24 from SuperMac. It's suggested retail is $999, compared with $995 on the RasterOps, and unlike the RO, it has a socket for a QuickDraw accelerator, which apparently makes 24bit faster than normal 8bit. (The accelerator is another $500 or so, but you can add it later...). The RasterOps I can get for about $715, including everything. The best price I've found on the SuperMac is about $845, also including tax, shipping, etc. For $130, then, I get the option of blazing-fast 24bit color later. So, does anybody out there have any experience with the SuperMac board? Do you know of anyplace where I can get one for less than the price I quoted? Any help would be most appreciated. Since the Mac IIx that all of this is going into could show up anytime after Monday, I want to make this purchase ASAP, since the machine doesn't work too well w/out that card... Therefore, if you know anything, I'd be endebted it you'd send it on! Many thanks, --Mike
