Newsgroups: comp.unix.xenix Subject: "Context" diff - what is it? and Perl works on 286 Keywords: patch context diff perl Message-ID: <226@carssdf.UUCP> Date: 15 Dec 89 01:42:20 GMT Organization: C.A.R.S.,Middlesex,NJ Lines: 13 Refering to the documentation for patch (L.Wall) that performs better with "context diff's", my xenix 2.2 (286) documentation does not show how to get this type of diff file. Am I still using some vanila diff program that comes with xenix instead of a much improved GNU or L.Wall program of similar name and function? John Watson ...!rutgers!carssdf!usenet PS. The new 3.0 version of Perl (L.Wall) can be compiled on a 286 box running a Xenix 2.2 that has yaccL & makeL. Only one test fails, an insignificant return value of status of close of a file, op.stat #42. Compiled with flags -M2el -LARGE -O; linked with -F 2000 -lx malloc.c will not compile with -Zi, others will.
