Message-ID: <1989Dec14.172531.12493@palantir.gsfc.nasa.gov> Date: 14 Dec 89 17:25:31 GMT Reply-To: schuler@palantir.gsfc.nasa.gov (Larry Schuler - RMS) Organization: NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center Greenbelt, MD Lines: 18 I recently received the X11/NeWS server from Sun. (OpenWindows, if you prefer.) But I am having problems starting the combined server. It complains that it is "Unable to resolve host: localhost". My guess is that because our Sun's use the modified libraries that provide BIND access, the X11/NeWS server's attempts at obtaining an address for localhost fail, since no search of the local hostfile is being performed. Can anyone confirm this ? Is there any way around this short of removing the BIND supporting libraries from the system ? I can get the server to work in X11ONLY mode by using the standard X11 DISPLAY environment variable, but apparently the NeWS portion of the server requires this localhost link, and I would really like to run the server in dual mode. -- -Larry "Fair is fair, Larry. ...
