I'd like to float a suggestion for creation of a mailing list to
redistribute queries of the form "I need an X server/software for
platform Y", which have frequently formed a major component of the
comp.windows.x postings/XPERT mailings.  It could be gatewayed to a
newsgroup if anyone feels strongly that it should; I don't.  Of course,
the peril is that people who could answer the queries wouldn't be
subscribed to the list since they had already answered their own
questions; this could be handled by making the list a general forum
for discussion about porting X to different platforms, an issue which
generates considerable discussion in these bytes and which seems worthy
of separate coverage.  This suggests the title XPORT for the list :-)
