It was always my impression that the concept of networks like USENET was the wholesale, unadulterated spreading of information as far as the telephone-and-Internet links will carry it; to shrink the world by expanding access to information and ideas, and to share ideas between various people of extremely diverse backgrounds. So, tell me, how does gatewaying to GENie or any other charging system violate the purpose of USENET?
