If an employee refuses to work on Sunday, the employer may not be able to force him to, but when the time comes for promotions, and the choice is between someone who worked Sunday and someone who resisted his boss, guess who is going to get the promotion. Sure, you aren't forced to work Sundays, but there are subtle means of persuasion. Unfortunately, that's the way the world works. P.S.
