Thanks for coming to my aid about unix compilers, and the above is certainly true. The then again, I really don't care. I get paid for doing a job on my (God, I wish) 10 MIPS workstation. I'm not paid to conserve my memory or my MIPS or whatever. If it's there and it helps me get my job done any faster/better, I'm going to use it. Admittedly, it would be nice if some of those applications programs that I run were a little smaller so that I could fit more of them in memory at once without having to have a huge swap disk, etc. But hey, if I need it, just as long a I can run it, I'm going to use it.
